Some are very lively and well-equipped right in the middle of town, while others are a little more out of the way and require a car. 1. Aïn Diab Beach
Why we love it
Aïn Diab Beach is the most emblematic of the Casablanca coastline. 2km long, it stretches between the majestic Hassan II Mosque and the villas of the residential district of the same name. We return for its lively, popular atmosphere: morning strollers, weekend families, soccer games on the sand, sunset lovers facing the Atlantic. It’s not the quietest beach, but it’s the one that best captures Casablanca’s seaside atmosphere.
Access
- Aïn Diab district, west of downtown Casablanca
- Accessible by streetcar or bus, depending on your point of departure. The L005 bus line serves the Hassan II Mosque and Aïn Diab; the streetcar also connects to the Aïn Diab area via the Casatramway network stops.
- Parking spaces along the seafront (quickly taken up at weekends); alternative: Parking de la Corniche, a 20-minute walk away

- Gradual slope to water; waves can be sustained (attracts surfers)

2. Lalla Meryem Beach
Why we love it
Situated on the west coast of Casablanca, north of Aïn Diab, Plage Lalla Meryem is seductive for its miles of golden sand and the absence of dense construction on its seafront. Its main asset: its unspoilt character, rare in the vicinity of a major metropolis. During our visit, we were struck by the special atmosphere created by the fog enveloping the El Hank lighthouse – quite a striking sight. The beach is also well suited to families, thanks to its comprehensive facilities and seasonal supervision. At the end of the day, sunsets over the Atlantic are often spectacular.

- West coast of Casablanca, north of the Aïn Diab district
- The beach is accessible via the Casablanca transport network (Plage Lalla Meryem streetcar stop), but depending on your point of departure, a short walk may be necessary from the nearest tram stop.
- Parking lots in the immediate vicinity of the beach; arrive early on weekends and during school vacations
- Only 15 minutes by car from the Hassan II Mosque

3. Tamaris Beach
Why we love it
Plage de Tamaris stands out for its size and its calmer atmosphere than the urban beaches of the Corniche. Far from the city center, it attracts those looking for space without sacrificing amenities: restaurants with their feet in the sand, deckchairs for hire, background music on terraces in private areas. We love its long sandy stretches, ideal for a seaside stroll with an unobstructed view of the Atlantic horizon. The beach is very busy in summer, but its size means there’s always a spot to suit every taste.

4. Dar Bouazza beach
Why we love it
Located in a residential area south of Casablanca, Dar Bouazza Beach is one of the best equipped in the region. We spent a full day there and were impressed by the quality of its infrastructure, which is far superior to that of many other beaches along the Casablanca coastline. Its private section offers a high level of comfort, with deckchairs, umbrellas, showers, toilets and restaurants overlooking the ocean. The beach is very popular in summer, especially with local families and visitors looking for a complete beach experience.

Why we love it
Plage Madame Choual is the most isolated of this selection. Sparsely frequented, with no facilities or infrastructure, it offers an unspoilt setting that we appreciate for what it is: space, fine sand, Atlantic waves and tranquillity. We went there out of season and remembered the feeling of rare space close to a major metropolis. It’s a well-known spot for surfing and bodyboarding, as well as being popular with joggers and sports enthusiasts looking for an outdoor workout.

- West of downtown Casablanca, on the coastal road heading southwest
- Access is simplest by car or cab. By public transport, you’ll need to get to the nearest area and then finish on foot; check the exact route according to your point of departure.
- Some poorly developed parking areas nearby
- Avoid evening hours, unsupervised area

- Waves and currents can be powerful; swimming not recommended in rough seas; surfing and bodyboarding spot

Other beaches around Casablanca
Beyond the beaches presented in this article, the coastline between Casablanca and Mohammedia offers other options to explore, especially for those with a vehicle. The beaches in this area all meet the hygienic standards set by the Système Anti-Pollution du littoral-Est (SAP Est). Heading further north, the stretch between Casablanca and Rabat boasts a number of beautiful beaches, including Bouznika and Skhirat.
Frequently asked questions
When to swim in Casablanca
The bathing season generally runs from June to September, when the sea is at its mildest and the beaches are supervised. Outside these months, water temperatures and weather conditions make bathing less pleasant, or even inadvisable depending on the day. Surfers can enjoy the Madame Choual and Tamaris spots all year round, as the waves are often more interesting in the off-season (unsupervised areas).
Private beaches in Casablanca: how does it work?
Several Casablanca beaches, notably Tamaris and Dar Bouazza, offer private sections managed by catering or leisure establishments. These areas generally offer deckchairs and parasols for hire, showers and toilets, as well as on-site catering. Access is subject to a charge or minimum consumption. The public part of these beaches remains accessible free of charge.
How clean are Casablanca’s beaches?
The quality of bathing water in Morocco is monitored nationwide. According to the latest results presented in 2026, more than 95% of bathing water on Moroccan beaches complied with microbiological standards in 2025. In Casablanca, the East Coast Anti-Pollution System has improved water quality on the stretch between the port of Casablanca and Mohammedia.
