Situated on the Atlantic coast between Rabat and Casablanca, Skhirat beach boasts a natural setting and a peaceful atmosphere. Renowned for its golden sands and swimmable waters, it attracts families and surf enthusiasts alike. In summer, it becomes a privileged meeting place, where farniente and educational activitiesmingle.
In this article, find our photos and all our advice to make the most of your visit to Skhirat Beach near Rabat.

This opinion is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Is Skhirat Beach worth it?
Yes, it’s a beautiful beach and well worth a visit. Here, there are no large tourist infrastructures or luxury hotels by the sea. Its charm lies in its unspoilt natural setting and authentic atmosphere, where you can enjoy the sea in all its simplicity!
We particularly appreciated this perfect iodine break during our stay in Rabat.

Type of beach
Sand or no sand?
The beach floor is made up of fine beige sand. We appreciated its soft texture underfoot, perfect for long walks along the shore. This type of sand is also great for laying out your towel and relaxing in front of the ocean, or for letting the kids build their sandcastles.

Swimming conditions and supervision
The slope to enter the water is gentle, making swimming pleasant and gradual. Some areas are well protected from the waves, creating calmer spaces for swimming. We noticed a few boats near the beach, so it’s best to remain vigilant. The water is an attractive turquoise blue, with average transparency.
Signs indicate that the beach is supervised during the summer season, adding an appreciable level of safety for families.

Installations
We found showers and toilets right on the beach, allowing us to rinse off after a swim. There’s also a deckchair rental service, but you’ll need to bring your own umbrella and some food, as the beach has no shaded areas and the possibility of buying food is limited.

To reach Skhirat Beach by car from Rabat, allow around 30 minutes. Access is relatively easy, as the beach is not far from the main road. Access from the parking lot
From the parking areas, access to the beach is direct and not particularly difficult. We appreciated this proximity, which meant we didn’t have to walk far with all the beach equipment, especially when coming with the family.

Public transport access
For those who prefer public transport, a direct bus (line 33, Plage Skhirat stop) links the center of Rabat to the beach. The journey takes around 1 hour.
Special features
Dog
Dogs are not allowed on the beach.
Reduced mobility access
The beach has disabled-friendly toilets, but we found that there is no easy access to the beach itself. This situation unfortunately makes access difficult for people with reduced mobility who would like to enjoy the seaside.
With children
Although there are no permanent facilities specifically for children, there are plenty of activities on offer between June and September. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety of activities on offer: musical workshops, sack races, sand sculptures and litter-picking workshops. These seasonal activities make the beach particularly attractive to families during the summer months.

Naturism
It is not possible to practice naturism on this beach.
Eating out
There are no restaurants directly on the beach, apart from a small fish market which we didn’t try out.
For your day in Skhirat, we recommend you bring a picnic.
Hotels
Although there are no hotels directly on the beach, theConrad Rabat Arzana Hotel is just a 12-minute drive away. We loved our experience at this luxury hotel, with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
