Where to go in Rabat for the best beaches
If you’re looking for an iodized escape in the heart of Rabat, the Plage des Oudayas or the Plage de Salé are a must: easily accessible from the city center, they offer lovely walks.
For a real day of farniente with the option of a swim, head for the beautiful Plage de Bouznika or the creeks of Skhirat, perfect for a quiet interlude.
And if you’re the kind of person who can’t stand still, you can always opt for a stroll along the corniche at sunset. In short, there’s something for everyone!

1. Plage des Oudayas (Rabat city center)

Why we love it
Nestled at the foot of the Kasbah des Oudayas, this beach offers a serene interlude in the heart of Rabat. While it’s not the most pleasant place for a swim, the main reason for coming here is to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the seafront promenade.
Note also that children will surely enjoy climbing the rocky area along the beach for a bird’s-eye view of the ocean!

Access and useful information
- Location: under the Kasbah des Oudayas
- Driving time from the medina: 5-10 minutes on foot (the beach is really close)

- Monitoring: no
- Toilets, showers: no

Why we love it
The beach at Skhirat captivates visitors with its natural setting and peaceful atmosphere. Renowned for its golden sands and swimmable waters, it attracts families and surf enthusiasts alike. In summer, it becomes a privileged meeting place, combining idleness and educational activities. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety of activities on offer: musical workshops, sack races, sand sculptures and litter-picking workshops!

Access and useful information
- Location: Skhirat, about 26 km south of Rabat
- Driving time from Rabat city center: approx. 30 min by car via freeway
