Riads in Marrakech – our opinion
Marrakech is without doubt the Moroccan city with the greatest diversity of riads. The medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, remains the preferred territory for these traditional houses built around a central patio, turned inwards away from the hustle and bustle of the alleyways. Hidden behind mysterious doors, these charming interiors will welcome you in a cool, peaceful atmosphere. We tested out several of the city’s riads and have come back with a selection we’re happy to share.
With a few exceptions, riads are generally not very accessible for disabled people, and have a lot of stairs. What’s more, located in the medina, they have no parking facilities.

1. Riad Dar Darma

Why stay there?
Refined, theatrical and sumptuously decorated, Riad Dar Darma is, in our opinion, an exceptional address. Lovers of arts and crafts will appreciate the carved wooden ceilings, heavy drapes, antique furniture and colorful shades that create a cinematic setting. There’s also a traditional hammam and a sunny terrace with swimming pool. Located close to the Marrakech Museum and the Secret Garden, Riad Dar Darma was a real “coup de coeur” for us.
