Why is the Agadir Art Museum famous?
Opened in April 2023, the Agadir Art Museum is a leading institution forcontemporary art in Morocco. The result of a partnership between the National Museum Foundation, the Agadir City Council, and the Souss-Massa Regional Council, it enjoys strong institutional support that underscores its key role in the national cultural scene.
The museum features a permanent collection of approximately 150 works by Moroccan and international artists, enriched in particular by a significant donation from patron El Khalil Belguench. It thus contributes to Agadir’s cultural vibrancy by hosting temporary exhibitions that highlight the region’s artistic vitality.

How to get there?
The Agadir Art Museum is accessible by taxi or by public bus to the Théâtre de Verdure stop. On foot, it is located in an easily accessible area with flat streets, 10 minutes from the beach.
Parking
The museum does not have its own parking lot, but the Al Inbiaat underground parking garage is located near the museum, offering a convenient parking option.

Best time to visit
You can visit the museum at any time of day. It isn’t very crowded.
Length of visit and main difficulties
Plan on spending about an hour exploring all the works in this museum, which is accessible to visitors with limited mobility. The smooth layout, featuring an elevator and benches, makes for a comfortable visit.
Advice on how to visit
The museum’s exhibition is organized into five thematic sections, alternating between visual arts and traditional arts. Explanatory panels provide context to aid understanding.
Visiting with children
We did not find any activities, activity booklets, or interactive tours specifically designed for young visitors at the Agadir Art Museum, aside from an educational area. The visit is primarily contemplative.

- Adult price: 30 dirhams (ages 18 and older)

National Cultural Heritage Objects
Take note of the museum’s exhibition design, which creates a dialogue between heritage objects and contemporary artworks. This approach provides a better understanding of the mutual influences between folk art and modern art.
The collection does indeed includetraditional Amazighhandicrafts. These pieces reflect the cultural richness of the Souss-Massa region and offer a tangible glimpse into Morocco’s material heritage. We loved the collection of Amazigh rugs on display, with their geometric patterns and bright colors, as well as the traditional jewelry combining silver, enamel, and semiprecious stones.
