Tetouan, in northern Morocco, stands out for its UNESCO World Heritage-listed medina, its Andalusian heritage, and its proximity to the beaches of the Mediterranean coast. The selection of luxury accommodations here is more exclusive than in the country’s major tourist cities, but offers a variety of experiences to choose from: staying in a riad in the heart of the medina, enjoying the comforts of a modern hotel, or settling into a seaside resort just a few kilometers from the city. We’ve selected the best luxury hotels in Tetouan and the surrounding area for you, chosen for their setting, location, and the quality of their services.

This opinion is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Luxury Hotels in Tetouan: What You Need to Know Before Booking
The selection of luxury hotels remains fairly limited in downtown Tetouan, where you’ll mainly find a few riads and boutique hotels. The most upscale options are primarily located along the surrounding coastline, particularly around Tamuda Bay, M’diq, and Cabo Negro, featuring beachfront resorts, swimming pools, spas, and direct access to the beach. To make the right choice, ask yourself whether you’d prefer to stay close to the medina or enjoy a beach vacation a few kilometers from the city.
1. Sofitel Tamuda Bay Beach & Spa Hotel (5 stars)

Our review
Inspired by the glamour of the French Riviera in the 1950s and the colorful world of the Fauvist painters, the Sofitel Tamuda Bay really won us over. The interior design notably combines Klein blue and yellow to create a contemporary and elegant atmosphere. Our 44-square-meter room featured a chaise longue facing the pool and the sea, which was particularly pleasant for enjoying the view.
We enjoyed the direct access to M’diq Beach, the spa, breakfast served in front of the large floor-to-ceiling windows, and the attentive service from the staff. The snack offered upon our arrival—consisting of a banana-chocolate drink, vanilla macarons, and a homemade chocolate gazelle horn—was also a lovely surprise.
The property is also implementing several initiatives to reduce single-use items, including glass water bottles and reusable bamboo straws. In our opinion, this is one of the best places to stay in the region, thanks to its direct access to the sea, its well-maintained grounds, and its Mediterranean gardens.

2. Hotel St Regis La Bahia Blanca Resort (5 stars)

Our review
For us, the St. Regis La Bahia Blanca Resort is synonymous with hospitality excellence in the Tetouan region. It marks the debut of the prestigious St. Regis brand in Morocco, developed by Eagle Hills and designed by the international design firm Smallwood. This stunning property, built like a vast private riad, exudes Moroccan authenticity and pays homage to the region’s Andalusian cultural heritage with its intimate courtyards and Mediterranean gardens. Our favorite spot: the library with its beautiful art books, colonnades, and white equestrian statues. Beyond the palm grove near the pool, we particularly loved the traditional white architecture, which contrasts beautifully with the blue of the sea. Both the interior and exterior architecture of this resort feature a color palette of whites, neutrals, and blues, all accented with bronze. We admired the local craftsmanship showcased through intricate metalwork, zellige mosaic tiles, and tadelakt-style textures. In our opinion, this is a wonderful place to add to your list, thanks to its collection of art by local artists that transports guests to Tetouan and the Rif Mountains. Isn’t this the ideal sanctuary to relax in the tranquility of Tamuda Bay?

6. Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay Hotel (5 stars)

Our review
Located on the waterfront, the Royal Mansour Tamuda Bay spans a 10-hectare estate overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Its contemporary architecture, with clean lines, blends elegantly into the landscape. Upon arrival, the lobby—adorned with thousands of seashells—offers a view of gardens filled with flowers and aromatic plants.
The property offers several types of accommodations set within a vast landscaped park, with views of the sea or the surrounding mountains. We were charmed by the serene atmosphere, the attention to detail, and the balance between Moroccan, Mediterranean, and Arab-Andalusian influences. An exceptional destination for enjoying the coastline in a particularly refined setting.

4. Hotel Riad Blanco (4 stars)

Our review
Are you looking for an oasis of tranquility near the city’s attractions? We loved this small hotel, housed in a traditional 18th-century home that served as the Spanish consulate in 1860 and later as the residence of the “Bacha” during the Protectorate. The Moorish architecture immerses you in the unique history of this riad. Its eight quiet rooms open onto a charming patio adorned with arches and antique columns. The decor is also very refined, featuring a blend of cedar wood, inlaid floor tiles, and Andalusian-style azulejo tiles. We also recommend this hotel, straight out of *One Thousand and One Nights*, for its Moroccan cuisine and its mosaic-paved interior garden. Haven’t you ever dreamed of staying in a place that was once the setting for historic events and numerous Tetouan weddings?
