1. Restaurant Rick’s Café (favorite)
Do you know Rick’s Café? Kathy Kriger invites us to this mythical table, opened in 2004 and turned into a tribute to the 1940s cult film “Casablanca”. Set in a building somewhere between an old manor house and a riad, this restaurant plunged us into an elegant ambience, with its moldings, arcades and traditional Moroccan chandeliers. The romantic white styling, sculpted bar and subdued evening lighting took us on a journey into a cosy atmosphere, enhanced by a background of jazz piano music. In short, it was a suspended moment!
The menu is short but refined, offering carefully crafted dishes. We were tempted by the tropical salad of prawns with argan oil and curry, the oysters au gratin with Champagne sabayon, and the crown of beef Stroganoff. House cocktails and a selection of Moroccan wines completed our culinary experience. Served in chic dishes bearing the restaurant’s coat of arms, these dishes are accompanied by service that we found to be attentive, making this one of Casablanca’s finest restaurants. The sommelier was also a great help with food and wine pairings.

The Brasserie Bavaroise, founded in 1968 in the heart of Casablanca’s historic district, opposite the Marché Central, is sure to catch your eye! An iconic city institution inspired by Parisian brasseries, it has built up a loyal following thanks to its authenticity and warm atmosphere. In 2024, the establishment was renovated with a new decor, skilfully fusing its heritage with a contemporary touch, in harmony with the art deco spirit of the neighborhood.
To delight your taste buds, La Bavaroise offers a menu that changes with the seasons. Will you fall for his signature dish, Beni Mellal beef, matured for 30 to 45 days and cooked in a Josper charcoal oven? Or its pan-fried Atlas ceps? Best gastronomic and bistronomic restaurants in Casablanca
3. Table III restaurant (gourmet)
As soon as we arrived at Restaurant Table III, we were immediately seduced by the atmosphere of the place. The modern decor plays on black and brown tones, creating a hushed, intimate atmosphere, particularly pleasant in the evening. Chef Fayçal Bettioui, a native of Casablanca, is at the helm, offering a contemporary gastronomic cuisine inspired by his international career. After earning a Michelin star at his Zur Krone restaurant in Neupotz, southwest Germany, he returned to Morocco to open Table III. An open window on the kitchen allows you to discreetly observe the chefs as they prepare their dishes, a detail we really liked. We recommend this address if you’re looking for a contemporary gourmet restaurant for a quieter, more confidential dinner in Casablanca.
During our visit, we chose the 6-course tasting menu, accompanied by a white pinot grigio recommended by the sommelier. Even before the appetizers, several surprise snacks open the meal. Our favorite was a trompe-l’oeil chocolate foie gras cherry, as playful as it was pleasant to taste. The following plates convinced us with their balance and flavors, from fish to meat to seafood. We literally fell in love with the homemade sourdough bread, served with a soft butter and a butter with lemon confit spices. A delight! If you like to take the time to discover several of the chef’s creations, we think the tasting menu is the most interesting choice.

4. Restaurant Gare aux Gorilles
Between the city center and the Maârif district, we were surprised by the Gare aux Gorilles restaurant in Casablanca. Run by husband-and-wife team Amine and Marion Chraïbi, this original address combines elegance and conviviality, with a bright, colorful decor. Decorator Fabrice Maurel has succeeded in “freeing the instincts” by creating a singular atmosphere where a large gorilla takes pride of place above the tables. We immediately immersed ourselves in this world where bright, colorful decor plays a central role, reflecting the creative spirit that drives the kitchen.
Chef Amine, who trained at the Paul Bocuse Institute, took us on a real taste adventure! Dishes such as scallops with vanilla cauliflower mousseline or duck breast with baked beet are a testament to bold creativity. We took great pleasure in tasting this cuisine of character.
The icing on the cake: the short, evolving menu features refined cocktails by Moroccan Mixology. Marion’s attentive service completes the culinary experience.

5. Cabestan Ocean View Restaurant (oceanfront)
Bistronomic cuisine in a place that has marked the city’s history, that’s what awaits you at Restaurant Cabestan Ocean View. Founded in 1926, this institution has been given a facelift for 2019. Thanks to the work of local architects, this establishment is now divided into 3 spaces combining elegance and sobriety. We enjoyed the chic, romantic setting, where the Atlantic Ocean becomes the backdrop for the culinary experience. Located on the Corniche, the restaurant boasts a panoramic view of the waves, with bay windows letting in subdued light. Finally, the hushed, intimate atmosphere adds a touch of poetry, with the El Hank lighthouse on the horizon, don’t you think? As for the decor, we noted that it blends art deco and noble materials, with walls in local black marble, dark oak parquet flooring and refined Danish furniture.
In the kitchen, Chef Fabien Caboy has devised a refined menu highlighting local produce. If you love fish and seafood, you’ve come to the right place! Signature dishes include snacked whole squid with saffron potatoes, Mediterranean tapas and fresh oysters from Dakhla in southern Morocco. The menu is complemented by a carefully chosen selection of wines, including Moroccan vintages such as Domaine de Sahari’s vin gris.
The evening jazz extended our experience at Cabestan Ocean View Restaurant, adding a musical dimension to our meal. A moment that has made the establishment one of Casablanca’s most popular tables.

6. Restaurant F.Kabbaj (delicatessen)
Strolling through the narrow streets of the Maârif district, we came across this charming bistronomic restaurant, Restaurant F.Kabbaj. The establishment opened in Casablanca in 2010, born of a passion for foie gras and French gastronomy. Originally a delicatessen, this choice venue run by Farida Kabbaj, producer of foie gras and duck products since 1981, has gradually evolved into a family restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, reflecting the spirit of a home where each member of the Kabbaj family plays an essential role, creating an authentic and welcoming atmosphere.
Unsurprisingly, the menu features duck specialties, with a wide range of products available to eat in or take away, including artisan foie gras, terrines, sauces, quiches and charcuterie. The hostess invites you to discover traditional French recipes, such as langue de boeuf with ravigote sauce or pot-au-feu. The dishes, prepared with quality ingredients, are accompanied by a selection of wines to match the different dishes on the menu. In the mood for a sweet treat? Do you know Restaurant Le Basmane? Awarded the “Trophée du Tajine d’Or”, it has established itself as one of Casablanca’s most prestigious Moroccan restaurants. So it absolutely had to be on our list! At the corner of Boulevard de l’Océan Atlantique and Corniche, this restaurant is first and foremost a feast for the eyes. Between moldings, zelliges, mosaics, typical chandeliers and carved wooden ceilings, the setting is luxurious and very colorful. In the evening, you’ll experience a veritable feast for the senses, with Andalucia evenings entertained by musicians playing the lute and guembri (a plucked string instrument used in Gnawa music), and oriental dancers.
Under the direction of Chef Abdessamad Kadim, this restaurant offers traditional Moroccan cuisine revisited with a modern touch. The à la carte menu features emblematic dishes such as the famous couscous or lamb tagine with dried fruit, prepared with care and presented in a refined manner. These authentic flavours are enhanced by a service that’s judged to be of the highest quality! Want to share a moment in a relaxed, lively setting? Head for Restaurant La Ola, opened in 2020 on Casablanca’s Corniche. In our opinion, this is a rooftop to put on your list. We loved the view of the Atlantic Ocean, and the terrace decorated with vegetation and colorful frescoes. To add a touch of entertainment, Moroccan artists and musicians regularly host evenings with live performances.
We chose to try the tapas, which included fresh gambas, sautéed potatoes and homemade sauce, Moroccan olive varieties, calamari fritters and calamaritos. If you prefer a main course, grilled salmon and paellas are sure to please. Gourmet salads, fresh pastas, pizzas and meat dishes are also on the menu. Run by the Kerinec family for 4 generations, we believe this restaurant embodies authenticity and culinary tradition. À la carte, fresh seafood and fish selected daily. You’ll taste specialties that include fried fish, shrimp pil pil, and sea bream a la plancha. 13. Café culturel Papers Club restaurant (brunch, coup de cœur)
The Café culturel Papers Club restaurant is one of our favourites! Did you know it’s the city’s 1st literary café? We had a culturally immersive time in this completely kid-friendly establishment. In a cosy atmosphere that invites you to relax, we were surrounded by wooden shelves lined to the ceiling with books, giving us the impression of being in a vast library! The armchairs are comfortable and the tables decorated with newspaper extracts. This will add even more charm to the site, which is also known for its location opposite the Mohammed V Stadium.
We treated ourselves to a delicious and hearty Moroccan brunch. We enjoyed fried eggs with khlii (a Moroccan specialty of meat preserved in fat), crepes mille trous and harchas (a Berber pancake made from semolina), accompanied by fromage blanc, jam and viennoiseries. The food looked as good as it tasted on our well-stocked table! To refresh us, there’s nothing like freshly squeezed orange juice, mint tea served in elaborate stainless steel teapots, and hot coffee. Literary events are regularly held here, making the Restaurant Papers Club a unique cultural meeting place in Casablanca. We also liked the original setting and friendly staff. The icing on the cake: the kids get their own menu, too!

Cozy armchairs invite you to relax, creating a warm and elegant place to enjoy frozen delights.
This gourmet address is renowned for its artisanal ice creams, prepared according to a Sicilian recipe handed down for 3 generations. The à la carte menu features a wide range of classic fragrances and original creations using natural ingredients. This master ice cream maker also offers other specialties such as ice cream slices, meringues and macaroons. If you’re looking for a taste of the must-tries, opt for the vanilla pineapple ice cream with chantilly or the nougat praline.

Architect Fabrice Maurel has brilliantly fused architectural heritage with a contemporary touch inspired by Miami, Florida. Once you’ve pushed open the restaurant’s doors, you’ll pass through a lobby that doubles as a bar, and then its patio garden, reminiscent of Ocean Drive. The 2nd floor features a more intimate cigar lounge. The bubble-themed decor combines noble materials and Moroccan cultural references, creating a truly sparkling ambience.
The menu features international and local flavors. You’ll discover creative dishes such as caviar with yuzu-scented oysters and barbecue sauce. The restaurant is also renowned for its wood-fired grills and tapas. What better way to round off the meal than with a selection of fizzy drinks in keeping with the restaurant’s theme?

We passed this charming Café-restaurant L’Opéra on the Boulebard Bir Anzarane in Casablanca several times before settling in for a bite to eat. Indoors or on the terrace, enjoy tasty traditional brasserie cuisine. We also liked the decor, which cleverly combines antique furniture in dark wood and marble, a variety of light fixtures, large period mirrors and colorful canvases.
