Best luxury resort hotel: Hyatt Regency Taghazout Bay Hotel

Located in Taghazout Bay, some thirty kilometers north of Agadir, the Hyatt Regency Taghazout Bay Hotel is one of the most remarkable addresses on the Moroccan coast. We were won over by its architecture, integrated into the natural landscape facing the Atlantic, and by the quality of its 5-star services. The establishment offers several restaurants, an elaborate spa and infinity pools facing the ocean. An exceptional resort for travelers in search of luxury and a change of scenery.

Where to sleep in Agadir: best districts
Why sleep in Agadir?
Agadir is an ideal destination for travelers in search of sun and relaxation. The city enjoys a mild climate all year round, with over 300 days of sunshine. The fine sandy beach stretches for several kilometers, bordered by a lively promenade with a succession of restaurants, cafés and shops. We found that the resort offers modern, comfortable accommodation, from small, charming hotels to large, all-inclusive resorts.
In our opinion, Agadir is an excellent starting point for exploring southern Morocco. The town offers easy access to the village of Taghazout, the beaches along the coast and the Paradise Valley. Nor is the town lacking in cultural attractions. We enjoyed discovering the many museums, the ancient stone fortress, the superb viewpoints accessible by cable car and one of Morocco’s biggest markets, the El Had souk!

Sleeping on the waterfront

Agadir’s seafront runs along the famous corniche and is the city’s tourist heart. This modern zone is home to a host of top-of-the-range establishments overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The seafront promenade offers direct access to the beach, with its many restaurants, cafés and boutiques. We enjoyed the lively atmosphere of this district, which is particularly pleasant at the end of the day to admire the sunset.
Benefits:
- Direct access to the beach and promenade
- Wide choice of restaurants and shops nearby
- Panoramic ocean views from many hotels
- A lively, touristy atmosphere
- Close to downtown
Disadvantages:
- Lodging rates generally higher
- Large number of tourists
- Parking can be difficult
Our favorite hotel: Hotel The View Agadir
Staying downtown

Agadir’s city center offers an interesting alternative to the seafront. This area lies behind the beach and offers value-for-money accommodation. We found that the area offers a more architectural facet of the city, with less tourist buzz. It embodies the modernity of Agadir, which was completely rebuilt following the 1960 earthquake. The El Had souk, one of Morocco’s largest markets, is located at the southern end of the center.
Benefits:
- More affordable accommodation rates
- Close to museums such as the Museum of Reconstruction and the Museum of Art
Disadvantages:
- 10 to 20 minutes’ walk from the beach
- Fewer ocean views
- Less lively neighborhood
Our favorite hotel: Hotel Petit Palace Suites
Sleeping in the southern seaside district / Founty

Located south of the Corniche, the Founty district and the Baie des Palmiers are a popular residential area. This area is home to establishments in a more peaceful setting than the main waterfront. We particularly appreciated the tranquil atmosphere, ideal for travelers seeking serenity while remaining close to the beach.
Benefits:
- Calm atmosphere
- Close to the beach
- Resort, mid-range hotel or riad accommodation
- Fewer tourists
Disadvantages:
- Fewer restaurants and shops in the immediate vicinity
- Need a vehicle or cab to reach the center or the other end of the waterfront.
Our favorite hotel: Riad Villa Blanche
Sleeping on the coast

Some 30km north of Agadir lies the Atlantic coast and the village of Taghazout. Its bay is an attractive alternative for travelers seeking a more natural setting. Long known only to surfers for its renowned waves, the site has seen significant hotel development in recent years, with the opening of major international brands. We’ve found that staying here combines the calm of an unspoilt natural environment with the proximity of Agadir, just a 10-30 minute drive away.
Benefits:
- Natural setting facing the Atlantic, far from the hustle and bustle of the city
- Wild beaches famous for surfing
- Luxury hotels with direct access to the bay
- Authentic fishing village atmosphere
Disadvantages:
- Distance from Agadir: 10 to 30 minutes by car
- Few shops and restaurants outside the hotels
- Vehicle required to reach the city
Our favorite hotel: Hyatt Regency Taghazout Bay Hotel
Other useful tips to keep in mind

Agadir enjoys a pleasant year-round climate, but the high season extends from November to March, when European travelers flee the winter. We advise you to book your accommodation in advance during these months, as the most popular establishments quickly sell out. Rates are also higher during this period.
As far as getting around is concerned, most of the beachfront hotels allow you to explore the city on foot. If you’re staying in the city center or Founty, we recommend using the very affordable cabs. Remember to negotiate the fare before you get in, or ask the driver to activate the meter. Alternatively, you can rent a car and explore the Souss region on your own. Private transfers can also be booked in advance as an airport shuttle here.
