Getting Around Casablanca for a Weekend<\/h3>\n\n

Casablanca has a network of four tram lines, including Line T1, which connects Place Mohammed V, Avenue Hassan II, and the Oasis neighborhood, while Line T3 goes to Les Habous. The city bus network complements this system; for example, the L005 line serves the Hassan II Mosque and the A\u00efn Diab area. We also recommend the little red taxi\u2014the official color of Casablanca\u2019s taxis\u2014or ride-hailing apps for longer trips. Over a two-day weekend, you can combine walking and the tram without ever needing a car. We wanted to focus this weekend on the city\u2019s must-see attractions, alternating between religious sites, working-class neighborhoods, colonial heritage, and the waterfront. That way, you\u2019ll keep a good pace without leaving frustrated that you missed the best of Casablanca. <\/p>\n\n

Day 1 \u2013 Hassan II Mosque, Habous, and Delicacies<\/h2>\n\n

9:00 a.m.\u201311:00 a.m.: Hassan II Mosque<\/h3>\n\n

To kick off this weekend in Casablanca, head to the Hassan II Mosque<\/a>, located between the port and the El Hank Lighthouse. A masterpiece built between 1987 and 1993, it boasts one of the tallest minarets in the world, rising to 210 meters. We were impressed by the monumentality of the site and the meticulous craftsmanship: Agadir marble, Atlas cedar wood, traditional tadelakt, and zellige adorn every corner. It is also one of the few mosques in the world that allows non-Muslims to visit! We recommend booking the 1-hour guided tour (required\u2014the only option available) as early as possible to avoid waiting in line on site. Book your ticket now!<\/a><\/p>\n\n

2:00 p.m.\u20136:00 p.m.: Habous District and a gourmet break<\/h3>\n\n

In the afternoon, head to the Habous neighborhood<\/a>, designed in the early 20th century as a \u201cNew Medina\u201d by French architects Henri Prost and Albert Laprade. You\u2019ll immerse yourself in Morocco\u2019s traditional atmosphere, amid narrow streets lined with arcades, artisan shops, and peaceful inner courtyards. We love this neighborhood for its colors and authenticity, far from the labyrinthine layout of the old medinas. As you stroll through the neighborhood, you\u2019ll catch a glimpse of the Al-Mohammadi Mosque, whose carved minaret is inspired by the Koutoubia in Marrakech. It\u2019s best to plan your visit for a weekday, as some shops are closed on Fridays and Sundays. <\/p>\n\n

Before leaving the neighborhood, stop by P\u00e2tisserie Maison Bennis<\/a>, founded in 1930, which has been carrying on the art of Moroccan pastry-making for four generations.
