Located at the mouth of the Oued Bouregreg, below the Qasbah des Oudayas, the Plage des Oudayas is a favorite bathing spot for Rabat residents. We particularly appreciated its magnificent setting, perched on a rock that lends it a singular charm. In this article, you’ll find our photos and tips for making the most of your visit to Rabat’s Plage des Oudayas.

This opinion is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Is the Plage des Oudayas worth it?
Yes, Rabat beach is worth a visit for its pretty setting! Perched on a rocky outcrop, it offers 2.5km of inviting beach, and it’s right near the center of town! While the beach attracts the crowds in summer for swimming, it’s a great place to take a stroll in winter.

Type of beach
Sand or no sand?
The ground at Plage des Oudayas is made up of granular beige sand. This type of sand is not the finest you can find, but it’s still perfectly suitable for lying down or walking on.

Swimming conditions and supervision
Plage des Oudayas is shallow, which can be an advantage for beginner swimmers. However, we have observed that the sea is often dirty, which can make the bathing experience less pleasant. Swimming shoes are not required.
The beach is not supervised, so you should be particularly careful when swimming, especially with children.

Installations
We didn’t see any showers or toilets on the beach. What’s more, there’s no beach umbrella or deckchair rental service on this beach.
On the other hand, you’re sure to appreciate the seafront, which is particularly well laid out for a sea-scented stroll!

Public transport access
The Rabat-Salé tramway is a convenient option for getting to the beach. Take line 1 towards Hassan II and get off at the Bab El Had or Mohammed V stop. From there, walk about 15 minutes to the beach. We found this a pleasant way to explore part of the city before reaching the seafront.

Reduced mobility access
There are no facilities for disabled access on the beach itself. However, we did note the presence of a promenade along the seafront, which may be more accessible.

Plage des Oudayas has no special facilities for children. We noted the absence of play areas or equipment dedicated to the youngest visitors.
On the other hand, they should enjoy the challenge of climbing the rocks!

Eating out
Close to the Plage des Oudayas, we had the opportunity to discover the Café Maure, an admittedly touristy but very iconic restaurant, located just an 8min walk away. It offers a refreshing break after a stroll along the beach.
